Another Ped Visit Dodged

All this talk of being illness free caught up to us this weekend.

Saturday night Ellie woke telling Mommy that her ear hurt. A dose of pain reliever helped get her through the rest of the night and by Sunday morning she clearly wasn't feeling up to par. There were brief discussions about a Ped visit but we first wanted to assess what was really going on. There wasn't a clear reading as to what didn't feel good and we weren't so sure that it was really her ear. As time passed it became clear that Ellie had a bit of a flu bug and it was her tummy that wasn't feeling good. Mommy certainly understood as her tummy wasn't feeling great either. The day was spent relaxing, cuddling, sipping clear fluids, watching "movies", and napping. A good day for it if there was ever one. We had planned on hunkering down anyways. The morning Church service and Sunday school had been cancelled due to the weather.

I remember the many sick days when they were younger and this is so much better. Not only can they mostly tell you what is going on, but just hanging out and cuddling is enough. Though getting the healthy kids to check it down a few notches was the challenge.

All the napping made me a bit worried about the outlook of our night. Cognitively I knew that Ellie needed the sleep and that sleep was good, but I was a bit worried that she wouldn't be able to sleep during the night. Traditionally even a 15 minute nap throws off their night time sleep by a solid 3 hours. I didn't even want to think how a 3 hour nap would affect things. After her nap she cuddled with Mommy some more and tried sipping some warm broth. Unfortunately her tummy wasn't up for it just yet. She was up for only about an hour and a half before going to bed for the night. Thankfully she was able to go to sleep with ease and slept through the night.

This morning she woke a whole new girl. It was great seeing the smile return to her face and the bounce return to her body. We love you Ellie and we are happy to see you feeling great again!
