The Vacuum Discovery

Much of our holiday weekend was spent cleaning out closets, which unfortunately seemed to mean destroying the cleanliness of the rest of the house. Though, we have now recovered our closet, all of our drawers, and nearly all of the girls' closet... which wasn't really theirs yet as it was still consumed with all our junk. Soon though, it will be theirs and the boy's closet will become his... no longer the girls'. It is all circular... but what it all comes down to is that the Moms' are totally loosing out on space.

What we found during all of this is that the boy really likes the sound of the vacuum!

As we were organizing and cleaning we quickly found out that the boy settles into a nice peaceful sleep to the sound of the vacuum. It is amazing! Previously he had been an excellent napper, but recently he has turned more into a cat napper. Though, with the vacuum running... he took a 2 1/2 hour nap. WOOHOO!

Now... what can we run that sounds like the vacuum, but isn't the vacuum. It can't be good to run the vacuum forever. So far, a replacement hasn't been found. While the very loud fan in his room helps drown out the rest of the noise in the house, it doesn't lull him to sleep quite like the vacuum. Though, I'm thinking this is just a phase and we should just enjoy it while we've got it... and replace the vacuum if needed.

The other part of our weekend, the only part where we weren't cleaning, was spent shopping. Grandpa and Yia Yia offered to stay with the kids so Carie and I could celebrate the 4th anniversary of our commitment ceremony. Unfortunately, our anniversary weekend was already busy so we chose this weekend to take them up on their offer. We thoroughly enjoyed shopping for US and found it terribly sad that we had look for the woman's department, yet knew exactly where the kids' department was.

It was wonderful spending an entire afternoon bumming around together with no real agenda. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and walked away with a few new things to refill our closet. As usual, the girls' ended up raking it in. It is so much more fun to shop for them.

Oh oh oh! I can help you with that!! I have a friend who's son would only sleep if the vacuum was on and she bought a cd of vacuum noise. Worked like a charm! The princess likes the sound of the shower so I bought a shower noise cd. Highly recommend!

I've got those CDs as well. I was going to suggest them, but casey beat me to it :)
Glad you got to spend time without the kids... and I hear you on the space... Charlie has twice the closet room and drawer space we do... and yet... his clothes are teeny! And he is STILL overflowing!
Of course... we're just using his crib for all of our clothes... it's a little too easy :)
