I Just Really Want...
It seems that as each day passes the ability for this boy to let go of his paci's is harder.
Day one surprised us, both with the timing and the ease of which he dismissed his need for the beloved paci. They were out of sight. They were not out of mind. But he seemed to be completely okay with them disappearing. It was really no big deal on day 1.
As the days go on his inquiries seem to be more desperate in nature. One of his famous lines is "I just really want (insert anything of current importance)". We hear this all the time with varying levels of whine thrown in for good measure.
Last night we heard "I just really really really really really (yeah, we counted) want my paci", as if the additional use of really would make them magically reappear. Well, he was almost right! Boy this is hard. I'm so at the breaking point but we keep telling ourselves that we need to stay strong. Thankfully we can most often take his mind off of it by engaging him in some other fun activity. This morning we made snow men and birthday cakes out of Play Foam.
He has also decided that they are hiding. He loves a good game of hide-n-seek, but these darn paci's are hiding so good that he can't find them. As he was having a particularly hard time going to sleep last night he sat in his bed and told me of all the places the thought his paci's might be hiding. And there were a lot!

sounds like his pacis are really good hiders...lol Bella was my paci girl and it was a hard thing to give them up especially as she seemed to have hidden them places I hadn't thought of and could almost always find one for about a month. In the end I cut holes in them so they were 'broken' and not nice to suck. Hope this gets easier for spencer over the next week
Awww, that's so hard, for them to give up their comfort item...for Foster we actually had to cut off the entire tip (not just a hole - 'cause then he'd try to suck on the deflated part) when he understood the concept of "broken". Hope it gets a bit easier for him soon.
