Friends Around The World
The girls’ preschool classes prepared for this program for weeks. Each class period they explored different cultures and ethnic activities as they learned about how children in other lands live and learn. The emphasis was on learning that all children are special to God, no matter where they live, or how they look. They sampled foods from various locations and learned songs and dances from other cultures.
All of this learning and excitement culminated with a very special "Friends Around the World" program on Friday, March 23rd.

Both Carie and I were able to attend this program. The girls were beyond thrilled that we both were able to be there to watch them do their thing. They thought it was pretty cool for Beth & Ben to be there as well. The program went off without a hitch and then following the program we all joined for food and fellowship.
Everything went great until the very end, the transition between the program and refreshments.
It quickly became clear to us that Aunt Betsie began a tradition at their Christmas program back in December. A tradition that we hadn't realized was a tradition. Aunt Betsie surprised each of the girls with a flower after their Christmas program.
Of course the girls were over the moon excited about the flowers at Christmas.
Of course the girls thought they should get a flower after their Friends program.
Of course Mommy & Momma hadn't even given thought about getting flowers.
Of course best friend Katie received a flower after the Friends program.
Of course that led to much tears over the lack of flowers on this end.
Come to find out, best friend Katie was really disappointed that she didn't get a flower after the Christmas program. She of course saw Abby & Ellie's flowers then and was quite disappointed. Her Mom had actually forgotten about getting a flower for this program until the last minute. But in the end she remembered and saved the day for Katie.
We didn't even know that Katie was so upset about the flowers at the Christmas program. I feel so bad for her, for that day, now that we know. And I felt bad for our girls and their disappointment for this program.
But, disappointment happens. It didn't take to long for them to recover.
