Tropical Fruit

It was snack time, quickly approaching bedtime. On a non-swim night we hope to be done with snacks and up doing bedtime routine stuff by this time. But it was a swim lesson night so everything feels shifted just a bit.

We were discussion snack options. Ellie really wanted "tropical fruit" for a snack. Specifically she wanted to try the mango's that were on the counter. Unfortunately the mangos weren't yet ready to eat. Mommy being quick on her toes offered a banana and explained that banana's were also tropical fruits. We were also pushing the bananas because, well, they are nearly past their prime. But they also met her "tropical fruit" request.

Ellie wasn't at all interested in a banana. She then decided that she'd like an apple. This is all well and good, but I wanted to wait until Spencer was off to bed before pulling out the apples. He didn't need anymore snacks and he needed to go to bed. He also loves apples and loves to eat them whole. Which is also good, but it takes time. More time than I was interested in burning over snacks.

So Mommy & Ellie continue this tropical fruit discussion. Mommy tries to explain to Ellie how bananas are tropical fruits. They talk about how they grow and where they are grown. Ellie then tries to explain to Mommy how apples are tropical fruits. Umm, no. Apples grow in many places, including Nebraska. Apples definitely are not tropical fruits. This conversation went back and forth for a bit.

Finally Abby chimes in and says "Mommy, just let Ellie THINK apples are tropical fruits"
