Girl Antics

Let's start with last night.

A little precursor... While we were at Urgent Care (see below entry), waiting for the Dr to come in, we notice that Ellie has an eye that is now looking a little on the pink side. We decided we would see what the Dr had to say. While she didn't really look at it (not like our beloved Ped would have), she did say that if anyone else ended up with pink eye that we could use the same drops she was prescribing for Spencer. So off we go. We get the script filled and head home.

It is so past bedtime it isn't even funny. Carie assists me with Spencer's drops and I get him off to bed. Carie's assisting the girls with their jammies. She's got the drops in her hand and she asks Ellie to come to her so she can take a look at her eye. At this point Carie is only contemplating giving her the drops, and says nothing to Ellie. Ellie reviews the situation, notices the potential drops, and says no way... she does not want the drops. Carie tells her that she won’t put drops in; she just wants to look at it. By then we concluded that she was so tired that we weren't going to push it... but we still wanted to see what it looked like. So Carie sets the bottle of drops down on the floor. See Ellie... Mommy isn't going to put drops in; I just want to look at your eye... Carie says. Ellie slowly inches her way towards Carie. As soon as she could reach the drops she quickly snatches them up. Only then, when she had the bottle of drops in her possession, would she get closer to Carie so she could look at her eye. Smart thinking Ellie! For the record, I think her eye looks fine so far this morning. We had wondered if her redness was a contribution from being so tired.

On to this morning... We go to dose up Spencer and I ask Carie where she put his eye drops. I look, they aren't there. The $65 (thankfully we only have a co-pay) itty bitty bottle of eye drops has gone missing. Carie calls for the girls, masters of relocating. She asks them if they took the bottle of eye drops out of the box (showing them the box). We received a resounding NO; they have no idea what we are talking about. Then Ellie says... they are up here, and heads off upstairs. Abby says... they are down here, and heads down stairs. Reminded us of the two headed monster from Sesame Street. Ellie looks upstairs, as she recounts her exchange with Mommy the night before. Abby heads downstairs and magically finds the itty bitty bottle behind the Christmas tree. Gee, I wonder how it ended up there.

I hope Spencer is on the mend. Those girls have all the makings of a comic strip!
