The Friendship Triangle
Over the course of this preschool year there are a few students in Ellie's class that have become quite close and can always be found hanging out with each other. Eliana is one of those students and Katie and Evan are the pair that makes up the friendly triangle.
Just this week Katie's Mom was a helper in the class for their pancakes and pajama day for "P" week. After class she stopped and shared with me what every mom wants to hear... that their child was such a joy to have in class. Of course I have the same opinions about their children! As suspected, it was Eliana, Evan & Katie choosing to play together a fair amount of the morning. They just do so well together! Though we do chuckle about the importance of who's holding whose hand. Recently Ellie was upset with Katie because Katie wanted to hold Eliana's hand but Eliana wanted to hold Evan's hand.
All we hear about in our house is Evan and Katie, with a huge emphasis on Evan. From what we understand, Evan's parents constantly hear about Eliana and same goes with Katie's parents.
While Abby certainly has preschool friends, I don't sense that there is a connection like this with any particular student. I asked Abby this morning if Katie and Evan were her friends too. Without a doubt she said YES! YAY! So I guess it isn't so much a triangle anymore, at least not outside of preschool.
About a month ago, we had our first play date! It was one of our weekend snow days where we just hung around the house. So we called and invited Katie over to play. Her Mom dropped her off at a set time, but the pickup time was left open. Those girls played for hours! I'd ask them if Katie was ready to go home and heard an overwhelming no from all three. As we approached the dinner hour Katie's mom called to give us a heads up that she was on her way. She was amazed at how long they had played together, as were we, and they were still not ready to part ways.
Tomorrow we are having another play date! This time both Evan and Katie will be dropped off at our house for some fun playtime. All four kids are beyond excited. It is a good thing that tomorrow isn't too far away!
