The Boy's 2yr Well Check

Spencer's 2 year well check was pretty uneventful.

He got to use the big scale and wasn't terribly interested in standing still, with his whole body on the scale – not moving – not grabbing things. But she (the NP) was able to get a good enough reading. He's back on the charts (@ 95%) weighing 34lbs.

Then he got to stand to measure his height. Again I'd call that measurement a rough one since the slider thing slid down a bit after he walked away. But I’m sure it is about as accurate as the pencil measurements on the exam table. He's still off the charts (> 97%) measuring in at 37" tall... which we later found out was perfect for riding on the big rides at The Amazing Pizza Machine!

Funny thing is that we don't recall the girls using the big scale or standing to get measured until about age 3.

Outside of his current cold he's a very healthy and happy boy. Even with his current cold his chest sounded incredibly clear and this isn’t usually the case. Thankfully there were no shots, but they did do a Hemoglobin and Cholesterol level check. He wasn’t exactly thrilled with that process, but it wasn’t terrible.

He wasn't interested in hanging out, at all. Hiding under the exam table, looking for birds, and reading books wasn’t enough to hold his attention. I tried to complete the developmental questionnaire but he was beyond done! He took the pencil out of my hand, put it on the counter and told me we were all done. He then instructed me to stand up and walked towards the door. That was fine; he wasn't interested in answering the questions anyways. The stinker – I know he knows the answers to the questions. It just wasn’t his idea and therefore it wasn’t going to happen.

Thankfully selecting the perfect sticker and checking out took the exact amount of time needed for the results to come back on the tests. His Hemoglobin registered at 13 and his Cholesterol level was awesome.

Spencer's impatience with the doctor's office is much like mine.
