Boy Stuff... 13-14 Months
Talking... this boy has something to say about everything. He tries really hard to mimic what you say. He's really adding to his vocabulary lately. However I think much of it is still only understandable to us. I love the baby talk though!
Telephone... he loves to talk on the phone. He's been in a big separation anxiety phase recently. My leaving for work in the mornings has been a rough transition for him and Mommy. If Carie and I are talking on the phone during the day, he gets all excited and wants a turn.
Books... he loves books, much like Abby did when she was his age. He talks about all the things on the page, or that is what it seems like. He also likes to point out objects that we are talking about.
Hugging... he gives some awesome hugs. Unfortunately they are few and far between. You can ask for one but you may or may not get one.
Jake... is my parent’s very large dog and Spencer loves him. Granted, Spencer has a thing about dogs with dog being one of his favorite words. But he and Jake seem to have a special connection. Jake is so tolerable that he lets Spencer do just about anything. Good thing since Jake is probably easily three times the size of Spencer. Thankfully Spencer has been fairly gentle with him, except that he throws things at him. My Dad has taught him to throw the ball to Jake. Spencer doesn't yet get the difference between throwing the ball and say, throwing dishes from the play tea set. Jake doesn't get why this child is throwing a plastic plate at him, but he just sits there and takes it.
Destruction... if there is something to pull down, Spencer will pull it down. We cannot get ahead of the game. We definitely cannot keep up.
Running... who needs to walk?
Circles... the boy loves to turn in circles. Spontaneously he will turn his body in circles until he can't remain standing. He thinks it is hilarious and giggles as he turns. I have memories of my little brother turning in circles as a young boy. I'm told his daughter does the same.
And last but not least...
Climbing... at any chance he climbs anything in his path. He is very much like his sister Ellie in this regard. At 13 months and 3 weeks old (Friday) he successfully climbed out of his crib.
