HAY
This all started several months ago, but to this day we are still laughing about it.
We were driving back to Omaha from visiting the folks in Lincoln. I think it was one of those days where we needed bedtime to come early for us all to survive. There was much protest and whining about something, who knows what.
As we are driving along the Interstate approaching Omaha we hear loud and clear, from the back of the van, the girls holler HEY.
We were like oh crap now what and braced ourselves for the not unusual protest about going home. So we say HEY WHAT?
Their reply... HEY!
Soon we figure out that the mucho excitement is about the HAY bales in the fields off the side of the road.
So since that time Carie and I greet each other (via e-mail or IM) with a HAY, not because of poor spelling but rather a fun moment in our family’s lives. The girls' continue to excitedly point out bales of hay at any opportunity. Remember, we are in Nebraska and hay seems to be everywhere... especially this time of year. A few times a year they can even watch them make hay bales in the field behind our house.
I wouldn't be surprised if Spencer's first word was HAY!
