Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving from our little turkeys!
We hope all of our friends and family had a fantastic Thanksgiving. We truly have so much to be thankful for.
We hosted a fabulous celebration and shared the day with Carie's sister, brother-in-law, brother & niece. We enjoyed good food and good company. We didn't quite get to all the things we thought we might, but we did get to relax and enjoy the day. It was perfect!
The one project we did get to was decorating gingerbread houses. This has become a Thanksgiving tradition for us and the kids enjoyed it yet again.

How fun! Did you make them from scratch? Last year we bought a tree one and it didn't turn out all that well and tasted horrible. I saw a rice krispy one that I'm thinking about for this year. Yum!
Looks like fun! Was that a kit you used? We're thinking about getting one for Erik this year but he's probably still too young.
Tanya & Shannon - Nope, they weren't from scratch. They were all kits. You actually eat them??? They are purely decoration here. That Royal Icing isn't very tasty... from the kit or from scratch.
We pick up several kits each year after Christmas when they are greatly discounted. We only used 4 of the house kits we had so we've got a couple more left in storage. We've also got a few of the tree kits that we haven't used yet.
The kink this year is that we didn't realize we picked up kits that needed to be assembled and then dried for like an hour. I like the kits that are already put together... then all the kids have to do is decorate. As they get older and hopefully more patient we can do more assembly and making them from scratch with them. :) That would be fun!
Oh - and all the extra kits are because we get enough for all the kids (cousins) to participate. We never know who is or isn't going to be there. This year we were with Carie's family thus less cousins.
