Swimming Lessons - The End of The Beginning
The 8 week session of summer swimming lessons is over. Both girls had quite a lot of fun going to lessons each week. So much fun that they want to do it again. Enrollment for fall lessons comes soon and we'll be there.
Their last class was Sunday evening where their regular teacher, Jennie, wasn't there. They liked Jennie a lot, as did the other kids in the class. Their stand in teacher was "A BOY, oh and his name was Matt". While it took a little warming up, they were okay to proceed with lessons from Matt. In their class of six students, there is only one boy. The rest of the girls in the class appeared to be equally apprehensive about a new boy teacher, but the boy in the class was beaming from ear to ear. He (the little boy) was way cute!
After class they received their certificate that says they passed the class and can enroll in Level 1. YAY girls!!! The girls were mostly concerned with the way their teacher decorated each of their certificates and suggested next time she (the teacher) should use different colors. That is what is really important here!
While we are excited and proud that they passed their class and can officially move into the next level, we are seriously considering re-enrolling them in the same level for the 1st fall session. At enrollment we'd also enroll them in Level 1 for the 2nd fall session.
We think they could use some more practice on these beginning skills (geared towards kids ages 3-5) and meeting more frequently (twice a week) will help them feel more confident. We hope that a 4 week confidence booster will serve them well going into a more challenging class.
We don't think the girls will know the difference, they'll just know that they are taking swimming lessons. I hope our plan works!
